Modern hip replacements last very well, with more than 95% expected to be still functioning 10 years after implantation. However hip replacements do gradually wear out, necessitating in some cases, repeat or revision surgery. Instability, infection, loosening and pain are all symptoms that may indicate that a hip replacement needs to be changed.
Revision hip surgery is more complex than primary replacements and requires expert planning and advanced surgical skills to minimize the complications. Jason Webb has a specialist revision hip surgery practice where each case is assessed on an individual basis.
