Procedures

Using tried and tested implants, patients can expect excellent results in the majority of cases, with very low risk of complications.

Hip replacements may need to be redone (revised). Gradual wear and loosening, infection, instability and pain are all symptoms that may indicate that a hip replacement needs to be changed.

Lateral hip syndrome is a common cause of pain in the hip region. Formerly known as Trochanteric bursitis, it is now recognised to be caused by a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

Many hip-disorders have long phases where non-operative treatments may be effective. Jason Webb takes a systematic approach to his patients and the treatment of hip disorders.

Patient Stories

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your team for the the amazing job you guys did on me. I was very reluctant to go through with the procedure because of the finality and fear of it all. And given the fact I felt I was too young at 48. But through the professionalism, skill and genuine care you showed me every step of the way (excuse the pun) it couldn’t have gone better! I realise I’ve still some ways to go but the outcome already far exceeded my expectations. And for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Indeed if , or when , I need the other hip replaced I wouldn’t want anybody else but you to do it for me. Thank you so much.
Mr Webb was most courteous, informative and professional before, during and after my operation. The procedure was fully explained to me and my post operative recovery was rapid and virtually pain free. Within hours I was able to walk short distances with just the use of walking sticks and the sticks were completely dispensed with after only 4 weeks. At the 6 week post-operative consultation Mr Webb explained how I could expect to make further progress whilst not attempting to do too much too soon.
Patient at Spire Bristol Hospital
Hip surgery changed my life. Before my first hip operation I was in constant pain and couldn’t walk more than 250 metres without sticks. I had less than 8 per cent rotation in the joint. Since having both joints replaced, I have climbed my hardest rock climb, ascended some of the most famous north faces in the Alps and pulled sleds up mountains in Alaska. I have skied toured the famous Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt and descended numerous steep off piste couloirs. I run cross country and mountain bike. I am lucky enough to never get any pain from my new hips – indeed I forget they are there. I hang upside down from my heels on overhanging rock climbs and jump onto crash mats from the top of our local climbing wall. My message to anyone suffering from osteoarthritis is that if the pain starts interfering with your life and making you miserable, then don’t be afraid to have surgery. As long as you put the effort into the rehab, you can get brilliant results. Many thanks to you and your team for their fantastic work.
